Carolyn
E. Hansen specializes
in commercial mediation and has been an active mediator for since
completing the New York State training program in early 2001.
Since there she has also completed
a number of specialized and advanced trainings through the State
of New York. Since 2002 she has been serving on the Board of the
New York State Dispute Resolution Association which oversees mediation
and arbitration in New York State. She is also on the board of
the International Alliance of Holistic Lawyers, Treasurer of the
Mid-Hudson Chapter of the New York Women's Bar Association and
Secretary of the Board of the Hudson Valley International Trade
Association.
Ms. Hansen brings to commercial mediation her 30 years of experience
on commercial and corporate law focusing on international
transactions. She is an expert in cross cultural communications.
Her law degrees are from the US and Europe; JD, the University
of Michigan and an LL.M. with honors from the University
of Brussels, Belgium. Ms. Hansen's law career includes
14 years as in-house, international counsel to major US
corporations; Johnson's Wax: A Family Company; Schering-Plough
Corporation; and Ralston Purina Company. At the latter
she headed the law department of Ralston Purina International.
She then lived in Taiwan for 12 years where she had her
own firm specializing in international business and investment
and representing clients ranging from well-known multinational
corporations to entrepreneurs and government agencies.
In June 2003 she completed a four year training program
in Western psychology and Asian concepts of the human energy
system. Ms. Hansen speaks Mandarin Chinese, has a working
knowledge of Spanish and reading knowledge of French.
